Jeffrey Varghese is currently the Pi-Phi Chapter’s Grand Master and President.
This summer, Jeff went to Honduras for a week with a group of students from Brooklyn College and partnered with Global Medical Brigades. They raised around $50,000, brought their own physicians and supplies and set up a medical clinic in a rural part of Honduras that has no access to medical care. In the three days of the clinic, they saw over 570 patients. The villagers were triaged, their basic vitals taken, seen by a physician, seen by a dentist, instructed in basic hygiene, and given prescription medication for their ailments. Jeff “strongly feels that no pre-med student can decide to become a physician without going out and seeing the great need that exists in our world.”
